Summer Creek's online newspaper

Second annual J-Camp set for Aug. 3-5

For the second year, journalism students will be able to get in Summer Creek High School and have some fun before school even starts. With an all-color yearbook to start creating and a monthly newspaper to publish, the students have their work cut out for them. We’ll spend three days shooting pictures, interviewing new teachers, talking to the athletes preparing for their first varsity competitions and looking for any and everything else going on at the school.

If you want to join the fun, contact Mrs. Ortiz at Megan.Ortiz@humble.k12.tx.us. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3-5. All you have to bring is something to drink and $10 for three days of meals and snacks. Mrs. Ortiz will make sure you are well fed and ready to get out and about.

There will be no sitting around. Students will be putting on their reporters’ hats and using their cameras. They will be creating templates for the yearbook and even receiving a visit or two from some experts in the field. Anyone who is currently enrolled in a journalism or photojournalism class is encouraged to attend. Simply contact Mrs. Ortiz to guarantee there will be plenty of materials for everyone.
